EnvironmentalBotalcura Winery is concerned about global warming and climate change; it has made us become strongly committed in reducing our impacts towards the environment; a great challenge that fills our team with enthusiasm.
LIQUID WAST TREATMENT PLANT:
RATIONAL USE OF RESOURCES:
Optimization of water resources: USING RECYCLABLE SUPPLIES / CHOOSING SUSTAINABLE SUPPLIERS: Glass bottles: The bottles used are made with 40% recycled glass, which therefore results in extracting less silica sand and reducing soil erosion along the Chilean coastline. Cardboard boxes: The use of recycled cardboard reduces the number of trees cut down for cellulose production, which contaminates the environment by discharging its waste products into the rivers. Plastic containers: Choosing suppliers that reuse their container material reduces the amount of non-biodegradable polyethylene contamination of the earth. Waste: Non-recyclable waste matter is sent to certified lined landfills and liquid waste treatment plants to avoid contaminating the earth.
CEMARS Certification: We wanted to reaffirm our commitment through the measurement of our Carbon Dioxide emissions caused in our cellars at Maule Valley and in our commercial offices in Santiago, and diminish them in order to mitigate our impacts. To achieve this, we have obtained the CEMARS® certification, which stands for “Certified Emissions Measurement and Reduction Scheme”; this guarantees that all of our wines come from an organization committed to reducing its carbon emissions. CEMARS certification provides assurance that we have measured, managed and reduced the greenhouse gas emissions |
